Riding
Beginning at 9:00 am, the first activity is a one-hour riding lesson.
This is followed by an instructional clinic covering all aspects
of horsemanship. Stables and horse management, horse health care,
tack maintenance and grooming will be covered thoroughly by our
staff. A second one-hour riding lesson is included in the afternoon
activities. Students are required to be at a level of being able
to walk and trot in a group before attending camp; this could take
as many as 10 lessons for the novice student. An evaluation is required
if you are not already an RHS student.
RHS offers a one-week session for the Intermediate and Advanced Riders. This session
covers more technical work both on horseback and on the ground. An introduction to teaching
will also be included.
RHS also offers a horse camp for beginner riders, this is held during the third week of July. No experience is required, and is open to anyone 5 years old and up. This includes 1 riding lesson daily, arts & crafts, and hands on horse care. There will be a pizza party on the last day of camp.
This session will run from 9 am to 1 pm.
Lunch
Campers are required to bring their own lunch. Beverages and an
afternoon snack are provided. Refrigeration is available for lunches.
Horse Show
At the end of each session, campers will participate in a horse
grooming contest and a horse show. Prizes are awarded to campers.
Group size
Campers will be split into small groups 8-10 students per instructor.
A maximum of 20 students are accepted per session.
